This 5-day double Gorilla trek gives you an opportunity to meet the forest giants in their natural habitats in Volcanoes and Bwindi National Parks. Rwanda and Uganda shelter the largest population of Gorillas in the world. Tracking the Gorillas in different locations gives you a chance to understand the unique behavior of the Gorillas and also to have a clear comparison of the conservation of these great apes.

Trip Details
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
You will be welcomed by our guide on arrival at the airport and be briefed on the trip before setting off heading to Volcanoes National Park. You will drive through the city and continue to the countryside of this small country enjoying scenic views of the rolling hills. You will have stopovers at the local markets as you proceed to the North Eastern side of Rwanda in Ruhengeri. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Guardian village
After breakfast at the lodge, you will drive with your guide to the park briefing point to meet other guests to be briefed on the dos and don’ts of Gorilla tracking. You will then be ushered into the thick forest in search of habituated Gorillas in the high Virunga Mountains. You will then meet the Gorillas after several hours of trekking and be allowed one hour in the presence of these habituated Gorillas. Return to the starting point and meet your guide to go for a community visit to the famous Guardian for a cultural encounter with Rwanda’s ancient lifestyle. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: City tour and Transfer to Uganda
After breakfast at the lodge in the park, you will depart early returning to Kigali where you will have a city tour visiting the genocide memorial, Kimironko market and presidential palace and depart later transferring to Bwindi in Uganda through the border at Gatuna. You will then proceed to Bwindi forest National Park and check in at the lodge with in the park. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi and Batwa
After your heavy breakfast early morning, you will set off with your guide and drive to the park offices were the rest of the visitors are gathered for a briefing. You will then be divided into groups of 8 and be led into the forest to look for a particular Gorilla group allocated to you. The ranger guides will lead you through the forest trails following the gorillas until you find them. You will then be allowed to spend a whole hour with them and later return to the starting point to meet your guide. You will then head out for a community visit to the Batwa community in the surrounding areas of the Park to explore the unique lifestyle of the former forest people.
Day 5: Departure
Wake up at leisure and have your breakfast and then drive off to Kampala to enjoy the beautiful countryside.
