Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Our guide will pick you from your Hotel from Kampala or at the airport on arrival and embark on the journey to Mgahinga forest National Park in the south west of Uganda. You will drive through different towns as you continue to the deeper countryside enjoying the fresh breeze from the beautiful undergrowth by the roadside. The journey takes 6-8 hours depending on the stopovers arriving in the evening hours at the park. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga
After having breakfast at the lodge, you will transfer to the briefing area in the park to meet other guests as a team. You will soon be led into the forest in search for the Gorillas and after several hours of trekking into the forest, you will meet the Gorillas and be allowed to spend an hour in their presence. The Silverback will be seen guarding the family, mothers taking care of their babies while the juveniles are seen playing and feeding. You will later return to the starting point and meet your and head to the lodge for lunch and launch a community tour to the Batwa village to understand their ancient way of life. Their ancient hunting tactics, traditional dance and their use of herbs for medicine will amaze you as they demonstrate. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Golden Monkey tracking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast at the lodge, you will drive with your guide to the park offices to be briefed and join other guests before heading to the forest to search for the habituated Golden Monkeys. Unlike Gorillas, the Golden monkeys are a little easier to track since they do not move long journeys for food and after meeting them, you will be allowed to spend an hour with them taking pictures and learning more about their behavior. After this exciting moment with the Golden Monkeys, you will return to meet your guide and drive to the lodge for lunch and rest before transferring to Lake Bunyonyi in the neighboring district of Kabale. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Rock resort.
Day 4: Lake Bunyonyi excursion
After a heavy breakfast in the morning here, you will get on a motorized canoe to explore the different Islands on this beautiful lake. The beautiful stories about these islands will be shared by your guide as you sail together. You will later return for lunch and be ready for Zip lining as you close your day. Dinner and overnight on a camp fire at Lake Bunyonyi Rock resort.
Day 5: Return to Kampala
Your breakfast will be served early in the morning and set off for Kampala as you end your trip.
