Mount Bisoke is one of the eight volcanoes that form the Virunga chain; it stands 3711 meters above sea level standing between Rwanda and Congo. The hike to the summit of mount Bisoke normally takes 6 hours and 2 hours descending but experienced hikers sometimes take less time to do all that. Mt Bisoke hiking is less strenuous compared to the sister Mt karisimbi also located in Volcanoes National park. The other volcanoes in the Virunga conservation area include Mt Nyiragongo, Mt Nyamuragira, Mt Gahinga, Mt Muhabura and Mt Sabyinyo
Detailed Itinerary
You will be picked up from your Hotel in Kigali and start on your journey transferring to the Volcanoes National Park area where Bisoke Mountain is located. You will arrive early enough to attend the briefing and then be led on the 6-hour hike to the top of the mountain. The hike gives you a chance to view many forest inhabitants like the forest hogs, birds, and duikers. After reaching the summit successfully, you will take memorable pictures and enjoy the moment as you start to descend to the bottom. Descending will take you 1-2 hours and continue to meet your guide and drive to transfer you back to Kigali city.
