10 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari

This 10-day wildlife safari explores the top highlights of Uganda, from the popular and vast Murchison falls National Park, the verdant and densely-forested Kibale Forest National Park, the biologically diverse and primeval Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, to the pristine Lake Mburo National Park. There will be a chance to track the rhinos in the wild, seek out endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, and relish a boat ride to the bottom of the roaring Murchison Falls as well as relaxation in Lake Mburo National Park.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in the Pearl of Africa, Uganda at leisure
On landing at Entebbe International Airport (surrounded by the tranquil shores of Lake Victoria), you will be met by our private safari driver for a short transfer to the Hotel in Entebbe After settling in at your accommodation, set out to stroll through the top tourist attractions of this former Capital of Uganda. Situated about 40 kilometers from Kampala (the Capital City), Entebbe is not just a gateway into Uganda but also an unmissable safari destination. Get the chance to rest and become acclimatized to the surrounding.

Day 2: Track Rhinos on the way to Murchison Falls National Park, northwestern Uganda
After breakfast, head to Murchison falls National Park for your first wildlife viewing experience. Make a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you will take a guided walk searching for the southern white Rhinos in the wild. Enjoy lunch at Amuka Safari Lodge before proceeding on to the popular Murchison Falls National Park to spend the next two nights. On arrival, take time to enjoy the drive to the top of the falls before heading to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Thrilling wildlife viewing experience and Boat cruise in Murchison Falls National Park
Before sunrise, depart the Lodge and head for the 3-4-hour game drive through Murchison falls National Park. While on this drive, don’t miss out on the lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, spotted hyenas, bushbucks, Rothschild’s giraffes, Uganda Kobs, Olive baboons, waterbucks, vervet monkeys, Jackson’s hartebeests, Topis, Hippos and other. After your incredibly informative game drive, settle for a nice lunch and cool off at the Lodge.
In the afternoon, you will join the exciting boat ride to the bottom of Murchison Falls. This will take 2-3 hours while Hippos and Nile crocodiles as well as elephants, antelopes, buffaloes, and birds are spotted. Following your amazing boat ride, you will head back to your lodge in the national park for dinner, drinks, and overnight.

Day 4: Take the 7-8 hours’ journey from Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest National Park
The scenic drive from Murchison Falls National Park to Kibale Forest National Park is long but filled with awe-inspiring views. 7-8 hours on the road might not be easy but you will appreciate the beauty of Uganda as you drive through the verdant rolling hills of the countryside, Albertine Escarpment and farmlands. Tonight you’ll be staying in a beautiful Safari Lodge in or around Kibale Forest National Park before you enjoy the adventure in the jungles.

Day 5: Search for the endangered Chimpanzees in Kibale Forest and Visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

This morning, be prepared to search for the endangered chimpanzees in the wild. Leave the Lodge very early in the morning for the rewarding 1-4 hours’ search for chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Afterward, have one hour to watch and take photos of these creatures that are surprisingly our closest relatives in the animal Kingdom. Next, you will stop off for lunch at the Lodge before proceeding to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This is a wonderful spot for seeing wetland birds and primates that were missed in Kibale Forest National Park. Keep an eye out for the Sanctuary’s specialties before heading down for the night and dinner at the Lodge.


Day 6: Journey to the primeval Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This morning, you will make a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for another adventure that you will live to remember. It will take you about 6-7 hours to get there, including the drive through the Queen Elizabeth Ishasha sector where chances of seeing the tree-climbing lions are high. Proceed to the lodge to check in as well as prepare physically and emotionally for gorilla tracking the next day.

Day 7: Track the endangered mountain Gorillas in the primeval Bwindi National Park
On this beautiful and long-awaited day, head out to explore Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through a gorilla trekking adventure. The day starts early and is absolutely worth it as you will get the chance to see the Giant Apes in one of the homes (the others being Mgahinga, Virunga, and Volcanoes National Parks).
Spend 1-6 hours or more seeking out these calm and shy creatures in the rainforest. Before entering the forest, first, get a briefing from the Park ranger before being assigned to a gorilla group. Tracking time is unpredictable but takes anywhere between one and five hours, depending on the movement of the individuals. For this reason, it is important to exercise some patience, ne physically fit and have enough drinking water as well as energy-giving snacks. Spend one hour with the habituated gorillas before heading back to your lodge for lunch and the next adventure.
Following a delicious lunch, you will leave the Lodge and go to the surrounding village to experience the culture and traditions of the people, get entertained in traditional dances, and many others.

Day 8: Depart Bwindi National Park for Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, leave Bwindi behind and head to your next destination- Lake Mburo National Park. Lunch will be after checking in and settling at your Safari Lodge. The balance of your day will be spent at leisure- relaxing or undertaking a simple guided walk.

Day 9: Explore the stunning Lake Mburo National Park
Take a hearty breakfast and make a drive into Lake Mburo National Park, the smallest savannah National Park in Uganda. This well-preserved Protected Area shelters some of the country’s rarest species such as Burchell’s zebras, Rothschild giraffes, impalas, elands, Oribis, as well as leopards, spotted hyenas, buffaloes, vervet monkeys, duikers, and Olive baboons. It’s time to explore the Park through the game drive to spot some of these animals.
Afterward, take a drive to Lake Mburo for a boat ride that will bring you closer to more hippos, crocodiles, and birds.

Day 10: Depart Lake Mburo National Park for Kampala or Entebbe
Our 10 days Uganda Wildlife safari comes to an end as you make the 4 hours’ journey back to Entebbe. From this point, you can continue to explore more of Uganda’s irresistible beauty or take a flight to your next safari destination.
